We arrived at Petit Jean State Park yesterday. This is a gorgeous state park, huge sites and on a lake. The park is located between the Ozark and Ouachita mountain ranges. The mountain received its name from the legend of Petit Jean a story of a French girl that disguised herself as a boy and secretly accompanied her sweetheart, a sailor, to America.
The hike we wanted to do, is closed due to a storm that knocked down 400+ trees! The closure doesn’t really matter as we are socked in with rain all day. This is to be expected we have plenty to keep us occupied just like at home…iPads, TV, movies, watercolors, travel planning, etc.
Looks gorgeous. How long will you stay?
Any driving through mountains yet?
We have hit some mountains, nothing like CO. We are here for 2 nights, leave tomorrow. This is the nicest parK. Just stopped raining, we are going to go exploring.
Home Sweet Home!
Thanks! It rained all day today with just a few breaks….we were able to get outside a little bit. At one point there was a tornado warning…I think it was a in the valley…
Some gorgeous gems to be found for sure, despite the elements. I’m already enjoying your trip 🤗
What a beautiful park! Hope you were able to hike some of it and get photos to paint later. Had either of you been in Arkansas previously?
Carol may have driven through AR before, but it is definitely my first time. We hiked in between flood/tornado warnings! Because of weather, I haven’t even flown the drone or used the good camera! Plus I am a little “fly shy” about the drone! 🤣
Great pictures, nice one of the Airstream in the rain and some fog. We are on the porch at Pisgah. Ahhh!
Look forward to mo tails of the trails, try and outrun the virus! 😊
