Brunswick, Fort Frederica, Travel Update

We spent 5 days in the Brunswick GA area.  We visited Fort Frederica National Monument, St. Simon Island and Jekyll Island.  Our campground was at Blythe Regional Park.   Fort Frederica Three years after founding Georgia in 1733, Gen. James Edward Oglethorpe established Fort Frederica to defend the fledgling colony against Spanish attack from Florida. In time, long after the British garrison had left and the original townspeople abandoned Frederica. St. Simon Island

Jekyll Island, GA

Today was one of those really special days, one to remember.   We are camping with our friends Gene and Don at Blythe Regional Park in Brunswick.  We ventured out today to explore Jekyll Island. (See history below) Our visit started at the Wharf for lunch, as well as, delicious drinks of Jalapeño Margaritas and a delicious concoction called a Georgia Peach!  The Wharf had outdoor seating overlooking the water.  After a super long and fun lunch we continued exploring with a destination of Driftwood Beach.  After a short walk to the beach we were so surprised by the “driftwood”;…

Back on the road!

Today we left Richmond heading South to get our 2nd Covid shot in SC and then on to GA to meet up with BFFs from FL!  We packed up quickly between  rain and threats of snow showers.  Since we left quickly I unhooked water before I made my 2nd coffee...Carol said she would run into Dunkin Donuts to get my favorite drink, iced coffee!  Trailering an Airstream is not fun at “drive-up windows” that’s why Carol said she would run in.  I was parked alongside the road patiently waiting.  After what I thought was a long time, I finally saw…

Really Stupid Move!

So everybody does something really dumb in their lifetime; I have done many, but yesterday really tipped the scale into Extreme Stupidity! As you all know, we hike and travel in remote places....so we carry canisters of bear spray.  While hiking in California, we noticed that the bear spray we were carrying had an expiration date of 2004!  You know where this is going....
