We are sitting overlooking Lake Powell and Page, AZ as this is the only place we both have enough cell service to update the website! We have been at Wahweap Campground on Lake Powell since Monday.
We have continued to enjoy 4WD dirt roads of Paria Canyon where the colors were amazing and the Vermillion Cliffs area. We also did a day trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Lees Ferry; both very nostalgic from when we hiked rim-to-rim in 2016 and when we rafted the Colorado 267+ miles through the Grand Canyon in 2014. While there we walked out to Bright Angel Point for some great views of the canyon, but there was a haze of California Fire Smoke.
We hiked to Skylight Arch this week, usually you see the an Arch above you, but this one is level with the ground and only see it when you are right on top of it. The arch is over a gapping hole. We also hiked to Hanging Garden in Page, AZ. This area was so cool, that in a low overhang of rock that spans about 100 ft with plants growing only in the overhead like a terrarium. Carol hiked to the top of a very steep butte on our way back (a bit too challenging for my hip)!
We are here at Lake Powell until Tuesday and our next stops are South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Sedona and Phoenix area. We plan to be in Arizona for all of November!
PS. We saw our first Road Runner of the trip! Beep Beep! Check out the wildlife photo Gallery!
Oh my gosh, Carol your so brave being up on those rocks, glad to see your adventures are going so well..Enjoy
Great pictures….those blue skies!! Love the one of Carol’s hike; you go girl.
We have not seen a rain drop since the end of August! Blue skies every single day….
Thanks! Colleen likes to give me a challenge and I usually take her up on it.
