Verde Canyon Train & Grand Canyon

We have decided to spend the next 9 days in the Sedona area.  On Thursday we went on the Verde Canyon Train which explored the Verde River and remote canyon.  The  tracks were built early 20th century to haul copper from Jerome where one of the largest copper mines in the world was located.  It was a fun outing, https://www.legendsofamerica.com/az-jerome/

On Friday we took a daytrip to visit the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  When we got there a rush of nostalgia overcame us from when we hiked rim-to-rim and from when we rafted 8 days on the Colorado.  We truly love the Grand Canyon!  We decided to see if there were any accommodations to stay overnight.  Bingo! We were able to score a suite cabin at the Bright Angel Lodge; this was a good time of year to visit, there were not very many people, the temperature was perfect, 70’s during the day and 30’s at night. We dumped our stuff and took the park bus out the Hermit’s Rest Road to Hopi Point for the sunset.  To our surprise while waiting for the sunset there was a spectacular moonrise on the opposite side!  The moon came up over a butte and it was a stunning sight!  Early Saturday we got up and out to watch the sunrise and then hiked a couple miles of the Bright Angel Trail.  Hiking back up is a piece of cake without a backpack!

November 3rd is not just Election Day….it is our 22nd Anniversary!  We will be going to L’auberge of Sedona for our celebration, spending 2 days of luxury!

The “Moonrise at Hopi Point” should be award winning!

It was incredible, everyone was focusing on the sunset, when on the other side was that moonrise! I did not have my tripod so could not get a good closeup…Thanks! Are you going to grant the award? Will it be cash? 😂😂😂
