Milestone 11/22/20: 3 Months on our journey!When we left the Sedona area we were a bit down, because we loved being there so much, but then we hated leaving most everywhere we have been!  At Lost Dutchman we loved the campground/campsite (#27)!  The campsites are spread out so you are not looking onto another site and most sites have a clear view of the Superstition Mountains.  At our specific site we had a clear shot of the mountains and had cocktails every night to watch the spectacular changes during the sunset.  We also were dazzled by the wildlife!  We were…

Our Search for Wild Horses

Yesterday we headed out very early in search of wild horses at Salt Creek River near Lost Dutchman State Park.  We were prepared to  fail as we took fishing equipment as well as art work to spend the day at the river.   There are about 5 areas of Salt Creek that you can get to the river to see the horses.  We started at Granite Reef Recreation area...nothing but horse poop!  We continued to Coon Bluff Recreation area...no horses but plenty of horse poop.  So we decided to try fishing...first we fly fished, great fun, but no fish and…

Superstition Mountain Hike

Today we headed out to the Superstition Mountains in search of gold! We hiked up the Treasure Loop Trail with a destination of the “Green Rock”. The whole time we were wondering how hilarious it would be if we found the gold mine....What we would do with a gold mine?  Given we are retired it was decided that we would have to sell it to the highest bidder. Legend tells of the Lost Dutchman gold mine somewhere within the 160,000 acres of the Superstition Mountains. The gold mine and the mother lode is estimated to be worth $200 million!  We…

Leaving Sedona

Yesterday was bittersweet, leaving the Sedona area.  We had been there for about 3 weeks exploring every corner.  I am not sure what is so mesmerizing about Sedona, the colors, the terrain or maybe it is the magic of the vortexes!  Anyway, we loved it! This was our 2nd time visiting Sedona, the last visit we were able to take a hot air balloon flight.
