We have arrived in Borrego Springs, California! Borrego Springs is a small desert town between San Diego and Palm Springs. We are a minimum of at least 30 minutes from the next town. Borrego Springs sits in the center of Anzo-Borrego Desert State Park. Borrego Springs has one of the lowest COVID rates in California and for that we are glad!
The center of the town is Christmas Circle, a large traffic circle. Every Friday there is a small farmers market in the circle consisting of fresh vegetables, crafts and homemade foods. Last Friday we rode our bikes to the market and our purchase was homemade tamales; holy cow were they good! Across from the circle is Borrego Art Institute and around the corner is a brand new very modern Library. The town also has a small locally owned grocery and Borrego Outfitters which is a joy to spend time shopping, local, friendly and great selection of items (camping, housewares, clothes, books, wine and jewelry).
We are staying at the Springs at Borrego. The Springs is an RV Resort that includes a 9 Hole golf course, large swimming pool (must make reservations due to Covid), tennis and pickle ball. The sites include cable tv (we have Hallmark channel for Christmas!). The Springs has many nice amenities, LP gas pick up and delivery, each day you put your garbage out for pickup and the staff rakes each site to maintain a tidy look.
We are staying in Borrego Springs until 2/1 filling our days exploring the state park and Southern California as much as we can remaining safe from COVID!
