Preparation for new Airstream 25’

While in Richmond to complete the sale of the Condo, we bought the new truck so we are all set when the 25’ Airstream arrives!

We purchased a Ford F-250 Lariat!  We loved the Tundra, hated letting it go, but we have learned a lot about towing, weight capacities, etc. over the last 6 months.  Not to bore you with the details, the Tundra was tapped out with our current 20’ Airstream.  There is a distinct difference between “payload” and “towing capacity”. The Tundra was fine for towing capacity, but we were right at the upper limits for payload.  So, given our summer plans include 14,000’ mountains of Colorado and the Rockies, we went ahead and bit the bullet.

With the f-250 we will never have to worry about any of this in the future.  Plus there are many safety and towing additions to this truck to enhance the towing experience.  Anyone that wants details, please let us know.

I guess we made some classic changes that a lot of people starting out make.  We started smaller, love the lifestyle and moved up in size.  I am not sure there is a way to avoid this!

Here is the progression of our planning.  Originally we thought we could do the trip in a rooftop tent (bagged that idea), then an Airstream Basecamp (bagged that idea), then Airstream Nest (bagged that idea), then Airstream Bambi 16’ (bagged that idea)!  Glad we didn’t make all of those purchases!

This truck looks amazing, love the color. Have you thought about getting a sponsor? You could be influencers!

    1. Colleen
