Rifle Gap SP, Independence Pass & Aspen

We spent a day exploring Independence Pass and Aspen.  The road to Independence Pass is a constant climb from Aspen with two parts of the road one lane!  The payout is huge when you arrive at the pass, at 12,095 ft. you truly feel like you are on top of the world.  Independence Pass is also along the Continental Divide; the views are spectacular!

We stopped in Aspen for the afternoon.  The town is charming with a tiny creek running through the downtown mall area.  We passed Kemo Sabe a very popular western hat store.  There was a line to get into the store and we got in line! We gave up after about 10 minutes and moved on to the Aspen Brewing Company.  After a few cold ones, we saw that the line was gone at Kemo Sabe;  in we go….the store is amazing, you pick your style hat (Stetsons as well as other brands) and then the customizing begins.  One has a choice of hat bands, branding with initials, feathers and even silk strips!  We did it and it was fun!

Travel Update:

We spent 2 days in Moab, UT and spent most of our time in Arches National Park.  We are are now in Ridgeway, CO visiting Telluride and Ouray.

I admit we are a bit behind on video productions due to horrible internet access!  We are working diligently to get caught up!
