Indian Canyons is a canyon just outside of Palm Springs, CA. Indian Canyons is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the world’s largest California Fan Palm Oasis! Indian Canyons is home to the Agua Caliente Indians, specifically the Band of Cahuilla.
The drive to the parking lot from the entrance is about 5 miles and there you will find a small trading post. The trail starts just below the trading post. One of the welcome signs alerts the hikers of the “rattlesnake habitat”! We did not see any rattlesnakes….
The hike is about 3 miles with the 1st mile in the Palm Oasis where the temperature was cool and shaded from the sun. The Victor Loop continues above the palms on the ridge overlooking the oasis. The views from the ridge were unbelievably “stunning”….😂
The ridge was in full sun but it was still pleasant. We also had views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the east slopes of the San Jacinto Mountains to the flat valley of Palm Springs.
We highly recommend this hike!
Enjoy the video!
Travel Update:
We arrived in Desert Hot Springs, CA last Monday. Desert Hot Springs is about 20 minutes from the center of Palm Springs, CA. The weather is wonderful, 80’s during the day (no humidity) and 50’s at night! We will be here until early January…
Wow you girls are hiking fools! Good for you! Looked like a pretty narrow little squeeze coming out between those rocks😳
This was a really fun hike! It was more challenging than we originally bargained for! 😳
So beautiful. Made me homesick for Palm Springs. I loved living there.
Beautiful hike! Loved the shot with your shadows. Good thing we weren’t with you on this one. Don’t think we could have gotten Atom past the rattlesnake sign.
I know! That sign made you think twice about stepping off the trail! 🤣 🐍
Magnificent! The palms AND rocks against the blue sky are spectacular!! Great hike! Great video!
But what WOULD you do if you came across a rattlesnake!?!😳
