Four Arizona Adventures!

This week we’re taking you on 4 special adventures in Arizona: an amazing National Monument, a jeep ride in the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, one of our favorite campgrounds and kayaking on the Salt River in search of wild horses.

1. Wupatki National Monument.

Wupatki National Monument is a mesmerizing historical site located in Northern Arizona just outside of Flagstaff. The monument is known for its ancient Native American ruins and The Wupatki Pueblo was built in the 12th century. The pueblo is made up of over 100 rooms and is believed to have housed around 100 people at its peak. This National Monument is also home to a surprising phenomenon where air blows directly out of the ground beneath your feet. At the end of the trail is one of several “blow holes” where we experienced what some have called the “breathing earth.” The area was inhabited by the Pueblo people for over 400 years and their legacy can still be seen today through these ruins. This National Monument was an experience that was full of rich Pueblo culture and we really enjoyed it!

2. Sedona!

Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village was our first stop in Sedona. Tlaquepaque, means the “best of everything” and has been a significant Sedona landmark since the 1970’s. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch and tasty beverages at Rene.  Sedona, Arizona is known for its stunning red rock formations and beautiful natural landscapes. We always like to hike in the Munds Mountain Wilderness area. Bell Rock was our destination! Another way to explore the area is through a Sedona jeep off-road tour. We went on a Broken Arrow Tour with Pink Jeep Tours. The tour guide took us to some of the most scenic spots in the area and some rugged terrain! The tour was also a great way to learn more about the history and geology of the area. We absolutely love off-road experiences and this one was awesome!

3.Watson Lake

We made a quick stop in Prescott, Arizona and hiked around Watson Lake. This rocky terrain is unique.

4. Superstition Mountains/Lost Dutchman State Park/Salt River Kayaking

Superstition Mountains and Lost Dutchman State Park are two of the most popular destinations in Arizona for outdoor enthusiasts. This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Lost Dutchman State Park is just 40 minutes East of Phoenix.  Last Adventure… Kayaking the Salt River The day started out a little suspect, some clouds rolled in… but that wasn’t going to stop us from floating the river.  The Salt River is known for wild horses!  We didn’t see any of the famous Salt River wild horses this trip…but here are some that we saw when we were here in 2020! Arizona has a lot of fun things to see and do.

We alway enjoy our time in this state!
