We left Borrego Springs, California and headed northwest to Hearst Castle. We tried to tour the castle in the past but couldn’t due to road damage from a severe storm. Needless to say, we were excited to start our 2024 on the road adventures at Hearst Castle.
Hearst Castle, is a magnificent mansion located on the central coast of California, near the town of San Simeon. It is a famous landmark in California and attracts millions of visitors each year.
The history of Hearst Castle begins with its visionary owner, William Randolph Hearst. Hearst was a wealthy newspaper magnate and a prominent figure in American journalism during the early 20th century. In 1919, he commissioned architect Julia Morgan to design a grand estate on his family’s ranch in San Simeon.
Our tour started with a bus ride that took us through gorgeous rolling hills to the castle where we met our guide. We had tickets to tour the “Grand Rooms” & “Upstairs”. Our Grand Rooms Tour started at the Neptune Pool.
The castle complex consists of several structures that include Guest Houses, Gardens, and Outdoor Terraces.

Travel Update:
As you can see we left Borrego Springs and have started our year on the road!
We stopped at Hearst Castle on our way to Vinnie’s Northbay Airstream to have our Airstream checked out for our 2024 traveling! Our plans include Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Victoria BC and Vancouver Island!
