Canyonlands, Boondocking and More

We have been off the grid for several days…no power, water or cell service (except occasionally when driving)!  We have been exploring Monument Valley, Needles area of Canyonlands National Park and Natural Bridge National Monument.

At our last campground, Needles Outpost, when we were checking in, Carol asked if there were any dangers with regards to animals…the owner said, “nay, there is a badger in one of the sites and scorpions but nothing to worry about”!  Well Carol’s head snapped around and I thought we were going to have to leave, but the owner put her mind at ease by telling her to stay away from site 5 where the badger was living and don’t touch the trees where the scorpions live!

In Needles district of Canyonlands we hiked Slickrock Foot Trail; the hike stayed high in the canyon, showing viewpoints of Canyons, Buttes and the Needles.

Today we traveled to Green River State Park and we are going to stay here for 4 days.  The good news, we have electricity (AC), water, cell service and TV!!!!!  Over the next few days we will explore Arches National Park and Canyonlands – Island in the Sky.

This part of Utah has been so beautiful…photos just can’t show all of the beauty.  Here are a few pictures, many more are in the photo gallery, just click on Canyonlands!  For more about Canyonlands check out https://www.usgs.gov/science-support/osqi/yes/national-parks/geology-canyonlands-national-park

Great to hear from you again! I can see Carol’s head snapping around right now, LOL. Some beautiful sights there. Giving us some good ideas for future trips. Continued Happy Trails!!

Badgers and scorpions….I thought we were doomed! You guys should be with us!

You are absolutely right! Pictures and words just don’t do the area justice.

I’d be more worried about rattlesnakes and hungry mountain lions!
