Custer State Park! Wow!

We spent a week exploring Custer State Park! This state park seemed more like a national park than a state park with majestic pastures, lakes and crazy rock formations. Our first outing we drove the wildlife loop and we hit the jackpot! The Custer Buffalo Herd were putting on a spectacular show! We watched these beautiful beasts for a long time, then continued on the loop to see prong horns, turkey and prairie dogs. Devils Tower, Spearfish Canyon & More!

We departed Montana and started our trek East. We spent a week in Eastern Wyoming and Western South Dakota.Our first adventure, Devil’s Tower! Devils Tower was the first United States National Monument, established in 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt. This site was also featured in the movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind!  The Indians called the Devils Tower "Bear's Tipi" or "Bear Lodge," because so many bears lived there.
