Garden of the Gods

Our final day in Colorado we explored Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.  Garden of the Gods Park is a registered National Natural Landmark consisting of  300' towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of Pikes Peak.  The park was a gift to the city in 1909 with a stipulation that is must always be free to the public.We strolled through park and saw the cutest deer family!  The views and rock formations are breathtakingly beautiful.  The next day we started our trek back to the East Coast.  We caravanned for two days but had to part ways in…

Pikes Peak, Wow!

While in Colorado Springs, we drove to the top of Pikes Peak. Yes, we drove the Ford F-250 Diesel Truck (the workhorse).  It seems that human nature makes one more anxious and afraid when you are a passenger!  Carol drove up and I drove down; we both were unhinged when the passenger!!! 🤣.   When we arrived at the top, 14,115 ft above sea level, there was a new visitor center!  Construction was still going on in the parking lots but we were able to park and experience the beautiful surroundings. Mesa Verde National Park, Long House

Lots of catch up!  The SilverVagabonds arrived in Virginia last Sunday.  We spent 2 days on the road with Susan & Atom but in St. Louis we parted after a month together!  It was sad to part, honestly there were some tears!  More updates below.  Mesa Verde National Park While in Southwest Colorado we stayed at Morefield Campground inside the park.  The campground had so many bees that we did not spend much of any time outside at the campground!  Long House: We had timed entry to the “Long House” dwelling.  For the sensitive areas/dwellings the amount of people allowed…
