Saturday we left the Airstream in Green River UT and headed to Aspen CO for my retirement celebration. We arrived about lunchtime at the Hotel Jerome. We checked in and had a fabulous lunch at J Bar. We later walked around the town of Aspen and had dinner at Wild Fig. Sunday morning we rode the gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain. The views were incredible! We then drove up to Independence Pass. Just barely out of town, Carol spotted 5 Moose just off the road; 4 were lying down and one was standing. It was amazing to see!…
The beauty of the last few days is unimaginable. We have made a base at Green River State Park. Thursday we spent at Arches NP, Canyonlands NP and Dead Horse Point SP. Arches is amazing and photos just can’t capture the vast size and colors of the landscape! We had high hopes to hike to “Delicate Arch” but it was so crowded, COVID-19 precaution won and we passed. Many of the Arches are named by the park service or others, but we created some pretty unique names “old lady in chaise lounge”, “turtles kissing” and some that I better not…
We have been off the grid for several days...no power, water or cell service (except occasionally when driving)! We have been exploring Monument Valley, Needles area of Canyonlands National Park and Natural Bridge National Monument. At our last campground, Needles Outpost, when we were checking in, Carol asked if there were any dangers with regards to animals...the owner said, “nay, there is a badger in one of the sites and scorpions but nothing to worry about”! Well Carol’s head snapped around and I thought we were going to have to leave, but the owner put her mind at ease by…
