Weekend in Aspen; What’s Next?

Saturday we left the Airstream in Green River UT and headed to Aspen CO for my retirement celebration.  We arrived about lunchtime at the Hotel Jerome.  We checked in and had a fabulous lunch at J Bar.  We later walked around the town of Aspen and had dinner at Wild Fig.  Sunday morning we rode the gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain. The views were incredible!  We then drove up to Independence Pass.  Just barely out of town, Carol spotted 5 Moose just off the road; 4 were lying down and one was standing.  It was amazing to see!…

Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point

The beauty of the last few days is unimaginable.  We have made a base at Green River State Park.  Thursday we spent at Arches NP, Canyonlands NP and Dead Horse Point SP.  Arches is amazing and photos just can’t capture the vast size and colors of the landscape!  We had high hopes to hike to “Delicate  Arch” but it was so crowded, COVID-19 precaution won and we passed.  Many of the Arches are named by the park service or others, but we created some pretty unique names “old lady in chaise lounge”, “turtles kissing” and some that I better not…

Utah off road adventure

Yesterday was a true gift.  We wanted to stay at Goosenecks State Park near Mexican Hat, UT but because there were no reservations, we never thought we would secure a site. We got here about noon and when we pulled up to the gate we saw sites empty on the cliff edge!  The ranger gave us some excellent advice on scenic and challenging drives.  The first one was a 3 mile dirt road to the top of a mesa!  The caution signs stated 10% grade, NO RVs or Trailers....well we saw both as we climbed the 3 miles, CRAZY!  We…
