Two Days in Miami! Wow!

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, previously known as Villa Vizcaya, is one of the top destinations in Miami. This villa was built from 1914 to 1922 and was originally the winter home of James Deering, of Deering Harvester Company, and later International Harvester.Vizcaya is located on the shores of Biscayne Bay and is surrounded by native forests in Coconut Grove. This week we hooked up the Airstream for a 3 day trip to Key West. Once we got past Miami traffic we could relax and take in the views of the 100 miles of the Overseas highway from Key Largo to Key West. We stayed at the KOA on Sugarloaf Key.Before heading into Key West we rode our bikes on the Old Seven Mile Bridge which reopened to walkers, cyclists and trams in January of 2022. The release of Rocky the Loggerhead Sea Turtle!

This week we are sharing the release of a 220-pound loggerhead sea turtle from the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach …. What an exciting moment!Like all sea turtle species, loggerhead turtles face many threats that impact their population.  For over three decades, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center has been committed to the rehabilitation of sick and injured sea turtles. It’s awful to think some of the injuries are caused by humans, like the entanglement of fishline, prop strikes from boats and ingesting plastic bags.We were excited to witness her release back to the ocean.
