3 Days in the Capitol Reef National Park Area!

We left Escalante, UT and one of our favorite campgrounds, Yonder Escalante. We headed up Highway 12 to Torrey, UT just outside of Capitol Reef National Park.  Our 1st night we stayed at a Harvest Host, Etta Place Cider.  Of course we had to do a tasting and what an interesting experience!  We tried a variety of hard ciders ranging from Rhubarb Peach Wine to Etta Place Gingered!  We also had Reserve Fig Mead a desert cider….We left with Rhubarb Peach and the Reserve Fig Mead!  See the link below:Etta Place CiderWe have been wanting to do some “real” boondocking on…

Lower Calf Creek Falls! Wow!

We have wanted to hike this trail since we first came Escalante UT last year. We scoped out the trail on Route 12 from above with the drone and then the next day got to the trailhead at 7:30am to beat the crowds and heat. The hike is an interesting and fun hike with so many varied views. The trial is a mix of slickrock, sand and hard packed surfaces. When we started the hike the temperatures were around 60 degrees and when we finished about 95!At just over 7 miles and we highly recommend this hike! After the hike we…

The day we were there, we were the only ones for the entire day! We flew the drone several times…so much fun! We then left Lake Powell and traveled with the Airstream to Escalante. This area has so many interesting places to visit and many, many hikes. We chose Zebra Slot Canyon. The trailhead is located several miles down Hole in the Rock Road. This hike follows a wash and is mostly…

This week we are in Lake Powell and we are able to compared our visit in 2016 to our visit in 2022 with regards to the water levels. Only one boat ramp is currently open at Lake Powell!  The water levels are very sad. We then toured Lower Antelope Canyon…a spectacular sandstone slot canyon. The canyon is part of the Navajo Nation and has been closed due to Covid; we were thrilled that the canyon tours had opened again.  Our tour was with  “Ken’s Tours” started at 8:30am.  Our weather was perfect with bright blue skies and warm temperatures! The rules…
