Organ Pipe National Monument

Over the last 2 days we have been at Organ Pipe National Monument.  The feature picture is an organ pipe cactus.  The park is located just 5 miles from the Mexican boarder.  The campground is very nice but no hookups.  That is fine for us, we are self contained and have solar panels to keep our batteries charged.   Yesterday we hiked the Victorian Mine Trail a 4.9 mile hike through the Sonoran Desert with an abandoned silver mine at the 2.5 miles in. Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Yesterday we toured the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum adjacent to Saguaro National Park.  The concept of the museum is to allow visitors to see the nature of the desert in a natural setting.   The museum consists of several buildings that include live habitats for reptiles, butterflies, hummingbirds as well as a vast area of a desert zoo.  We headed to the reptile building and saw the local rattlesnakes (so we can identify them to the medics when we are attacked by one hiking), but quickly left because this building was also a Covid incubator!  We then went to the outdoor…

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we are giving thanks for so many things!  We are thankful for being able to travel as we have planned for years, we are thankful for finding one another and we are thankful for our good health; just to name a few.  This morning we reinforced all of the above as we did 2 short hikes to appreciate the gift in nature.   Most of all, we are thankful for our friends and family!   PS.
