4 Stops in Southeastern Utah!

When we left Moab we started our trek to Durango Colorado! We made several stops along the way:1. Valley of the Gods - a 17 mile loop near Mexican Hat, Utah.  A beautiful ride through vibrant red rock!2. Gooseneck State Park - towers 100’ above the San Juan River.  The river meanders through 6 miles of curves but only travels about 1.5 miles closer to Lake Powell!3. 5 Moab Adventures!

After leaving Capitol Reef we headed to Moab. We were lucky to score a campsite at Dead Horse Point State Park near Canyonlands National Park. Lower Calf Creek Falls! Wow!

We have wanted to hike this trail since we first came Escalante UT last year. We scoped out the trail on Route 12 from above with the drone and then the next day got to the trailhead at 7:30am to beat the crowds and heat.The hike is an interesting and fun hike with so many varied views. The trial is a mix of slickrock, sand and hard packed surfaces. Lake Powell & Lower Antelope Canyon! WOW!

This week we are in Lake Powell and we are able to compared our visit in 2016 to our visit in 2022 with regards to the water levels. Only one boat ramp is currently open at Lake Powell!  The water levels are very sad. We then toured Lower Antelope Canyon…a spectacular sandstone slot canyon. The canyon is part of the Navajo Nation and has been closed due to Covid; we were thrilled that the canyon tours had opened again.  Our tour was with  “Ken’s Tours” started at 8:30am.  Our weather was perfect with bright blue skies and warm temperatures!
