When we left Organ Pipe National Monument we headed to Alamo Lake State Park. The park features a 26 sq. mile lake, wild burros and many, many quail! The road to the park is over 30 miles from the main road! There are lots of exploring opportunities at this park and you are able to get off the beaten path on dirt roads through BLM land. Today we departed Las Vegas after being there since Sunday Afternoon. We stayed west of Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon. Our visit to Las Vegas was not for gambling, shows or all night parties! We had an appointment Monday at Airstream of Las Vegas to have some warranty work done; failing water pump, a broken deadbolt door lock and a routine tire rotation. We have been off the grid for several days...no power, water or cell service (except occasionally when driving)! We have been exploring Monument Valley, Needles area of Canyonlands National Park and Natural Bridge National Monument. Some history of Ottawa, IL.

Today marks our first completed week of our adventure. During this week, we had some obligations as well as some fine tuning of some logistics. We spent Thursday and Friday in Ottawa, Il. The main reason to visit Ottawa, IL was to deliver my mother’s ashes to be buried next to my father in Oakwood Memorial Park. It was sad, but we felt good having completed my mother’s wishes.
