Two Days at Arches National Park

Welcome from Ridgway, CO!  We are back in Colorado after a 2 day trip to Moab, UT to visit Arches National Park.  We had an amazing two days of hiking to stunning arches and vistas.  Arches National Park has more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches!  The park is located 4 miles north of Moab and consists of 76,680 acres.  While there the temperature was about 97 during the day.  Together we toured the following arches:North ArchSouth ArchTurret ArchPine ArchTunnel ArchLandscape ArchDouble ArchCarol, Atom and Susan hiked to Delicate Arch but I declined due to the elevation and heat. Two Days in Rocky Mountain N.P.

The wait is over!  Atom & Susan arrived Thursday afternoon!   It is so nice to have our friends with us for a portion of this journey.  We are in Estes Park and have had a delightful few days.  We explored Boulder, toured and hiked in the national park and enjoyed a wine tasting yesterday afternoon.   We have encountered a variety of weather, yesterday after visiting the Alpine Visitor Center (approx. 12,000 feet of elevation) there was sleet and hail and the temps dropped to 48.   We have a little compound at our campground! Yellowstone National Park, so majestic!

After Grand Teton National Park we returned to our Airstream for the night.  We then headed to Yellowstone National Park.  From our home base of Ashton, ID we had about an hour drive to Yellowstone.  Yellowstone was established as the world’s first national park in 1872!  This park influenced the creation of the National Park Service in 1916. The park is 3500 sq. miles of wilderness atop a volcanic hot spot.  The park features canyons, alpine rivers, forests, hot springs and geysers.  The most famous geyser, Old Faithful that got it’s name because it blows approx. every 90 minutes and…
