Drive the Scenic Highway 97 to Dawson Creek: Stunning Waterfalls, Wildlife and Chainsaw Art!

This week we continue our trek heading north from McLure, BC to Dawson Creek, the start of the AlCan Highway…mile 0!First stop, Wells Gray Provincial Park with over 40 waterfalls. We went to four waterfalls and experienced more mosquitoes than we could have ever imagined 😳! We spent the entire day exploring waterfalls: Dawson, Helmcken, Spahats Creek and Third Canyon Waterfalls!Next, Quesnel, BC and we stayed at the Downtown RV Park right on the river….we then moved north with a stop at Crooked Creek Provincial Park…a really nice park on a lake…only issue more mosquitoes!We continued up Highway 97 with…

The release of Rocky the Loggerhead Sea Turtle!

This week we are sharing the release of a 220-pound loggerhead sea turtle from the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach …. What an exciting moment!Like all sea turtle species, loggerhead turtles face many threats that impact their population.  For over three decades, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center has been committed to the rehabilitation of sick and injured sea turtles. It’s awful to think some of the injuries are caused by humans, like the entanglement of fishline, prop strikes from boats and ingesting plastic bags.We were excited to witness her release back to the ocean. Badlands National Park & so much more!

We left Custer State Park and headed to Badlands National Park!  Wall DrugThis is a “fun” place to visit…everything from country western clothing to novelty items, food and an actual drug store! It has been here since 1936!Badlands National ParkThe Badlands are an amazing national park with 240,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles and spires surrounded by prairie lands.  The wind was so fierce we could not enjoy the park for a couple days.   Fun Fact:  Badlands is one of the world’s richest mammal fossil beds where Acient horses and rhino once roamed.  Minuteman Missile National Historic SiteWe toured…
