Glacier National Park!

We spent two weeks in Glacier National Park. The first week we stayed in Hungry Horse just outside of the west entrance of the park. One of the main attractions of Glacier is “Going to the Sun” Road. Going to the Sun Road goes from the Apgar West entrance to the St. Mary East entrance. Two Days in Sequoia National Park!

After leaving the California Coast we headed East to Sequoia National Park. The park suffered last year from the KNP Complex Fire and many areas were closed for months. The firefighters actually wrapped General Sherman and many other sequoias with aluminum fire resistant blankets to protect them from the fires. As many as 2,300 giant sequoias burned to death or are expected to die as a result from the fire. This fire was caused by a severe lightning storm. Four Days in the Malibu Beach Area!

After San Diego we headed North to Malibu Beach. We read about an RV park that overlooked the Pacific and made reservations months ago. Our site was right on a bluff that had sweeping views of the ocean…we could hear the pounding surf all day and night!  Our first adventure was the Ciscos Whale Watch…we left from Oxnard…we had the potential to see humpback whales and migrating gray whales…we saw two water spouts far in the distance but did not see the actual whales. 🙁 I am not going to give away the spectacular gift we saw on our cruise…you…

A day at the Living Desert Zoo!

One of our favorite days so far in the Palm Springs area was at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert.  This zoo and gardens specializes in the deserts of the world!  The zoo features the African Savanna to the Wild Americas to Australian Adventures and there are over 500 animals!  This venue has been named number six on Condé Nast Traveler’s list of 10 Best Zoos in the US.  This was the best zoo we have been to!  We were so lucky, the temperatures were about 70 degrees with bright sunshine!
