Grand Teton National Park!

Three days in Grand Teton National Park did not disappoint!  Our drive from Ashton, ID was beautiful through lush green fields that took us to Teton Pass at an elevation of 8,432’ into Jackson Hole, WY.  After a short walk around the town we headed to the entrance of the national park.   Throughout our exploring we encountered all types of wildlife. Flaming Gorge Overnight

Every now and then we find a remote area that may be best explored without the Airstream.  This week we took an overnight side trip to Flaming Gorge on the Wyoming, Utah border.  From Heber City we drove West on I-80.  Our campground was on the Southwest side of Lake Flaming Gorge.   Several Antelope meandered through the campground, amazing!  Once set up we toured and explored to find Red Canyon and Flaming Gorge Dam.  This area is known for spectacular trout fishing…we were not prepared, I left all the fly fishing equipment at the Airstream; really dumb move. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge

We spent an overnight near this wildlife refuge. The Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is located in southern New Mexico. It was founded in 1939 and is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It is a favorite spot to watch the migration of the Sandhill Cranes in the fall.  Although we were not there to witness the Sandhill Crane migration we did see a variety of wildlife!We saw a plethora of Turkeys, Javelina, many types of Ducks, Blue Heron and Cranes.  Up to this point we had only seen Javelinas in captivity...so this was amazing to see…

Brunswick, Fort Frederica, Travel Update

We spent 5 days in the Brunswick GA area.  We visited Fort Frederica National Monument, St. Simon Island and Jekyll Island.  Our campground was at Blythe Regional Park.   Fort Frederica Three years after founding Georgia in 1733, Gen. James Edward Oglethorpe established Fort Frederica to defend the fledgling colony against Spanish attack from Florida. In time, long after the British garrison had left and the original townspeople abandoned Frederica. St. Simon Island
