Two Days in Sequoia National Park!

After leaving the California Coast we headed East to Sequoia National Park. The park suffered last year from the KNP Complex Fire and many areas were closed for months. The firefighters actually wrapped General Sherman and many other sequoias with aluminum fire resistant blankets to protect them from the fires. As many as 2,300 giant sequoias burned to death or are expected to die as a result from the fire. This fire was caused by a severe lightning storm. The Monterey Bay Aquarium! WOW!

Last week we showed you our exploration of Big Sur, Monterey and Pinnacles National Park; but we kept one or our adventures for a video of it’s own…Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Monterey Bay itself is protected water from Santa Cruz to Big Sur and the Aquarium has captured the essence of this very special place. There is an actual Kelp Forest, Sea Otters, Penguins and so many other wonderful exhibits. Our favorites were “The Jellies”! 5 Days in Big Sur, Monterey and Pinnacles National Park!

After Morro Rock and the wineries of Paso Robles, we headed up the coast to explore Big Sur, Monterey and Pinnacles National Park. We stayed at Yanks RV Resort in Greenfield, CA. We spent one whole day on the coast in Big Sur and the rugged oceanfront. One of our stops was at Pfeiffer Beach and the iconic “Keyhole Arch” where we were mesmerized by the beauty!We also had a wonderful night of luxury at the Seven Gables Inn….the views from our room were amazing! Morro Bay, Wineries and California Highway 1!

We left Malibu and drove 2 hours North to Morro Bay known for Morro Rock an ancient Volcanic plug at the entrance of the harbor. Morro Rock is one of nine in a line of similar plugs called the nine sisters.   The town is a very cute fishing town with many restaurants and shops along the harbor.  We stayed at Morro Beach State Park located on the South end of the harbor.   Our first day we met Brent and Krista in Paso Robles to visit 3 wineries…we met Brent and Krista in Borrego Springs.
