Noccalula Falls, AL

On the road again!

We left Richmond on Wednesday after a month and a half stay.  Both of us were ready to head west to continue our adventures.  Our first stop was just outside of Knoxville TN at Dumplings Farm and RV Park, a nice park in the country!

The next day took us to Noccalula Falls Campground in Gadsden Alabama.  We had stayed here years ago when we had the Winnebago and were traveling to New Orleans.  The campground is ok for an overnight but needs some TLC.  The highlight is the falls and surrounding trails.

Legend has it that Princess Noccalula fell in love with a warrior from another tribe. Some accounts say the lover was Creek. Her father, Cherokee Chief Pathkiller, wanted her to marry someone else, so she supposedly leapt to her death in the waterfall to avoid the arranged marriage. There is a 9 foot tall bronze statue of Noccalula at the bluff where she plunged to her death.

Travel Update:

We are traveling to Tuscan for an Airstream event via Jackson Mississippi and Waco Texas.  We are anxiously awaiting the temperatures to get warmer….we have had to run the furnace each night with outside temps dipping into the high 30’s.

Stand by for more!
