We have left Scandinavia and headed to the Netherlands! After a 12 hours and 4 train changes we found that there was a 24 hour train strike in all of the Netherlands….we ended up in Düsseldorf, Germany overnight in a hotel without AC! But bright and early the next day all trains were running to Amsterdam and the entire country!
Our first stop was Haarlem just a short 15 min. train ride from Amsterdam. Our Airbnb was exceptional and the town was charming. We visited Zaanse Schans with historic windmills from the 1600’s! We also took a canal tour around the town….
Next stop, Delft; another special town with canals and interesting historic areas. Delft is also home of Vermeer and Royal Delft hand painted pottery.
