Preparation for new Airstream 25’

While in Richmond to complete the sale of the Condo, we bought the new truck so we are all set when the 25’ Airstream arrives!  We purchased a Ford F-250 Lariat!  We loved the Tundra, hated letting it go, but we have learned a lot about towing, weight capacities, etc. over the last 6 months.  Not to bore you with the details, the Tundra was tapped out with our current 20’ Airstream.  There is a distinct difference between “payload” and “towing capacity”. The Tundra was fine for towing capacity, but we were right at the upper limits for payload.  So,…

Paria, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument

In October while in the Lake Powell Area we explored the Paria (pronounced like Maria) River Road looking for the Paria Ghost Town located in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.  We never found the “Ghost Town” that was abandoned in 1929.  We were so surprised by the colors along this dirt road...they ranged from muted tan to vibrant orange and reds arranged in beautiful layers.  The area kept our interest for many hours!   https://youtu.be/rTCBm8w7FuA

Big Bend/Rio Grande Video

Big Bend National Park, Texas

After 3 days on the road we finally arrived at Big Bend.  The final 30 miles were very hairy, no map showed us that there was an 18% grade on the route from Presidio to Lajitas! The Tundra got us up the grade with the Airstream but it is nothing we would want to do again!   We stayed in Terlingua in the heart of the desert at Road Runner Travelers, a new RV campground.   Our first full day we drove the Maverick Road, a dirt road that took us to Santa Elena Canyon that had a hike up…
