This past week we ventured out to Fonts Point, just about 8 miles from Borrego Springs. Last year we started up the sand wash to the Fonts Point but turned around, worried that we would get stuck in the deep sand. Well….this year we had no fear! The four mile sand wash no longer worried us as we now are so much more confident in our 4×4 skills!
When we started our trek there was nothing but blue skies and high puffy clouds….by the time we got to Fonts Point we encountered wind and there were rain clouds in the distance! We quickly put the drone in the air, explored and got back out to the paved road just in time to beat the rain.
A visit to Fonts Point is a great adventure for anyone who wants to explore the beauty of the Anza Borrego State Park. The views are some of the best views in all of Southern California. From this high vantage point the array of sandstone foundations is awe-inspiring. This view is something that everyone should see at least once.
With a short walk up the hill, you can see the Borrego Badlands, Vallecito Mountains, the Borrego Valley, Borrego Springs’ oasis, the Peninsular Range, Borrego Buttes, and the Pinyon Mountains; all very dramatic views!
Enjoy the video!
Travel Update:
Our time in Borrego Springs is coming to an end! We hate to leave as we have met great people and really enjoyed this special town now that Covid has calmed down. We are going to miss this little slice of heaven (according to us) but we are excited for our next leg of our adventure! We will be spending a week in the San Diego area then will continue up the coast to Malibu with a site on a hill above the Pacific! From there we will be slow rolling up the California Coast. Stay tuned!
