A Day in Crested Butte, Colorado!

“Crested Butte, Colorado is often overlooked—but it might be one of the most authentic mountain towns in the Rockies.

In this video, we explore Crested Butte, known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado and often called Colorado’s Last Great Ski Town. From the scenic drive along Highway 135 from Salida to the historic streets of Elk Avenue, this mountain town offers a different kind of Colorado experience—less crowded, more local, and full of character.

We spend the day walking through Crested Butte’s National Historic District, visiting the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum, enjoying local shops and coffee at Camp 4 Coffee, and taking in the incredible alpine scenery of the Gunnison Valley.

We also head just outside of town toward Gothic, home to the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, and explore the surrounding mountain roads for even more views of the Elk Mountains and Gunnison National Forest.

If you’re looking for a Colorado mountain town that feels a little more real—and a lot less commercial—Crested Butte might be worth the trip.
