Lake Powell & Lower Antelope Canyon! WOW!

This week we are in Lake Powell and we are able to compared our visit in 2016 to our visit in 2022 with regards to the water levels. Only one boat ramp is currently open at Lake Powell!  The water levels are very sad. We then toured Lower Antelope Canyon…a spectacular sandstone slot canyon. The canyon is part of the Navajo Nation and has been closed due to Covid; we were thrilled that the canyon tours had opened again.  Our tour was with  “Ken’s Tours” started at 8:30am.  Our weather was perfect with bright blue skies and warm temperatures! The Amazing White Pocket!

We took a tour via a Polaris 4x4 29 miles to the incredible White Pocket in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. This was such a fun trip through beautiful landscapes.  We debated whether we could do this trip with our F250 Truck….so glad we did a tour instead!Once at White Pocket the sights were like no other….white-capped rock formations found in a very remote area deep in the Vermilion Cliff Wilderness.  We hiked the area for about 2 hours, flew the drone and explored the entire White Pocket area!  Words, photos and video can’t capture the beauty of this area. Our tour…

Exploring Cathedral Gorge & Snow Canyon State Parks!

Our first stop in Utah was St. George. While here we visited Cathedral Gorge & Snow Canyon State Parks. Many that visit this area head to Zion and Bryce National Parks. Cathedral Gorge is like no other, the richly colored canyons (called the Panaca Formation) are remnants of an ancient lakebed. The spires create many areas to explore with high wall slots and interesting formations. Snow Canyon is located just outside of St. George and was created in 1959. This park consists of…

Red Rock Canyon & Valley of Fire, all near Las Vegas!

Our travels continue and this week we made a stop just outside of Las Vegas at Red Rock Canyon. We camped at Red Rock Canyon Campground just a mile from Red Rock Canyon.  While in the Vegas area we experienced a lot of wind…one day gusts up to 50mph! Red Rock Canyon is an amazing area just 17 miles from the Vegas Strip!   We also explored Valley of Fire State Park about an hour from Las Vegas…a beautiful, jaw dropping state park. This park was as impressive as any national park…Our stay ended with a delicious night out at…
